We therefore hope our approach is both very cost- and time-efficient. We recognize that the strength of the professions is the enormous talent and enthusiasm of people coming through at a junior level. The legal part of this website concentrates on law in the English jurisdiction, which is also the focus of the GDL exam. Even if you are a medical MRCP candidate who is not from the UK, thanks to the internet, you can now have access to exactly the same materials to give you success in the MRCP examination, recognized all around the world. Finally, Law and Medicine, to our knowledge, is unique in being able to offer also lively and interesting discussion across news from the worlds of medicine and law, and even the interface between these two highly exciting disciplines. It is not possible to have such a fertile discussion with people with such varied academic interests elsewhere on the internet, we believe. Key personnel: Dr Shibley Rahman QS MA MB BChir PhD MRCP(UK) LLB (Hons) is the Founder, Scientific Director and Company Director of Law and Medicine Limited. He graduated in medicine from Cambridge in 2001, with a First Class Honours degree in Neuroscience in 1996 (also from Cambridge). He attained his MRCP(UK) diploma in the year of 2005. He completed his research doctorate from Cambridge in the diagnosis and treatment of early onset dementias, and also has done post-doctoral research in the effect of visual cues in Parkinson’s Disease at the Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London. He has written an extensive range of publications in both subject areas, and written two textbooks, now published. Dr Rahman has a further academic interest in English law, particularly medical law, intellectual property and neuroethics. He was awarded his LL.B.(Hons) from BPP Law School, London in March 2009, and became a PRINCE2 registered Practitioner in October 2009. Dr Avinash Sharma MBBS MRCP(UK) is the Honorary Director of Mecial Education at Law and Medicine Limited. He is also a Consultant Physician at the Luton and Dunstable NHS Foundation Trust. He trained in General and Geriatric Medicine from NW Thames (London) Deanery, after attaining his MRCP in the year 2003. His clinical and research interest focuses on understanding the pathophysiology and management of varied illnesses in the elderly population, with a special emphasis on Parkinson’s disease, development of falls prevention and supported early discharge strategies. He has a keen interest in the training of medical students and junior doctors, and previously has helped in organising the final MB and MRCP PACES exams, while doing his higher specialist training at the Chelsea and Westminster Foundation NHS Trust in London. He is on the project board of Law and Medicine Limited to represent the interests of the medical students (final years and MRCP candidates) in the development of the website product. Er. Sameer Gupta is an Director of e-learning and e-commerce for Law and Medicine Limited. Sameer Gupta has overall responsibility of committing appropriate hardware and software computer resources to this project. He is primarily involved in designing the platform on which the learning materials are presented, and in coding for the interactivity of the site with the user. He is experienced in all programming languages. He is a Software engineer with three years experience in the IT industry. He is based in India. His particular professional interests include Web and Software Development. His personal interests include computer research.
